A home between two motels in a regional town could soon be demolished and transformed into a modern apartment complex.
Dubbo Regional Council has received plans for a $2.6 million three storey serviced apartment block featuring 16 serviced apartments and ground floor carparking.
The proposed modern apartment block would be designed for tourism and visitor accommodation with an anticipated professional client base, like sales representatives or locum medical professionals.
A dated dwelling, located at 136 Bourke St Dubbo, would be demolished if plans are approved.
Planning documents state the apartment will provide daily services between 8am to 7.30pm.
“Packaged continental breakfast supplies will be available to guests, but no restaurant or meal preparation will be provided as part of the development,” the planner said.
The proposed development will have 16 serviced apartments constructed with concrete slabs, aluminium composite cladding and a metal roof.
“It will be generally off-white and dark grey with stone and timber panel features,” the planner said.
The site will also have parking for 17 cars and two accessible spaces, one of which will be designated for administration.
The site is located within a mixed-use area where there are multiple motels, several residential dwellings and heritage listed items.
The site is close to Elston Park and a 12.km walk to the central business district.
“The proposed accommodation will support both tourism and temporary workers, contributing to the local economy,” the documents stated.
“The proposed development is not anticipated to generate any adverse impacts in the locality.”
The development is considered suitable for the location and will be on public exhibition until March 31.
