Two men have denied their involvement in an alleged police pursuit on the main streets of a Central West town earlier this year.
Orana Mid-Western Police District officers attempted to stop a ute on Wingewarra St, Dubbo, around 9.15am on April 29, however a pursuit was initiated.
When the ute allegedly failed to stop, a pursuit was initiated. A short time later the ute left the road and crashed into a fence on Macquarie St.
The driver fled on foot and was arrested a short time later.
The passengers in the car were also arrested.
Officers searched the vehicle and allegedly located knuckle dusters, a kitchen knife, a blade, a samurai sword and a machete.
Two men – Blair McDonald, 38, and Samuel Kerin, 30, – were taken to Dubbo Police Station.
McDonald was charged with driving dangerously during a police pursuit, driving while suspended, use prohibition weapon contrary to prohibition order, possessing or using a prohibited weapon without a permit and breach of bail.
He entered pleas of not guilty to each offence.
McDonald has not made a bail application and has been formally refused by Dubbo Local Court.
He appeared via audiovisual link to the same court on June 5 and will reappear June 19.
Kerin was charged with using a prohibited weapon contrary to a prohibition order.
He also entered a plea of not guilty.
Kerin has been granted conditional bail and is reappearing for a hearing on October 22.
