A repeat offender has been fined $850 after he got drunk and lashed out at a kitten, his girlfriend and a wall.

Beejay Raymond Harry Towney’s latest lot of troubles began after a drinking session with his girlfriend at a home on Columbia Drive in Dubbo on October 16.

According to court documents, the 28-year-old’s behaviour changed after he emerged from a bedroom of the home and his girlfriend ordered pizza.

Police said after Towney started throwing objects around the house and out the door, his girlfriend fled via the front door.

When she got outside, the girlfriend locked Towney in the house.

He punched a wall, pulled the front door off and followed his girlfriend out the front.

“I’m going to slit your throat,” Towney told his girlfriend.

While outside Towney picked up a 10-week old kitten and threw it across the front yard before he got into an argument with a neighbour.

In Dubbo Local Court Towney pleaded guilty to property damage, intimidation and animal cruelty charges.

Defence lawyer Toshi Weller-Wong told the court alcohol was “clearly an issue” for his client.

“He’s ceased drinking alcohol except on special occasions,” Mr Weller-Wong said.

“His partner and him have reconciled … they’re expecting their own child.”

Mr Weller-Wong said Towney was not known to the court for domestic violence matters, however Magistrate Theresa Hamilton said Towney had committed intimidation and property damage in the past.

“Overall his behaviour on this occasion was really disgraceful,” Magistrate Hamilton said.

“If this is how you behave when you’re drunk you really should watch the drinking.”

Towney was convicted, fined $850 and placed on a community corrections order for 12 months.
