A western NSW elderly man, who sent sickening voice messages on a gay sex line, has escaped full-time imprisonment.
Alan Harry Treseder, 75, was charged and arrested in 2022 with using a carriage service transmit, publish or promote child abuse.
The former hardware store owner appeared in Dubbo District Court on Tuesday to face his sentence after pleading guilty in Dubbo Local Court to use carriage service to make available child abuse material.
Judge Karen Robinson convicted Mr Treseder and sentenced to an 18-month intensive correction order – a term of imprisonment to be served in the community.
The offender also faces added conditions of a three-year good behaviour bond, to participate in a rehabilitation program, a ban from travelling interstate or overseas without written consent from an officer and a $1000 fine.
Judge Robinson said Mr Treseder expressed he has a “sexual attraction to younger males”.
She said Mr Treseder admitted to using the service for years and has previously arranged consensual sexual meetings with other adult males.
“He accepts his responsibility for his mistakes,” Ms Robinson said.
“Good prospects of rehabilitation have been identified,” due to his limited prior offending, with none being of similar nature.
The Dubbo News previously revealed Victorian Police identified and arrested a convicted child sex offender, who isn’t Mr Treseder, relating to his use of ‘Fastmeet’ and exchanging child abuse material with others in November 2022.
Police facts tendered to the court suggest that after investigations, Mr Treseder was identified and referred to NSW Police.
In October 2021, NSW Police established Strike Force Hank to investigate individuals, including Mr Treseder who had communicated with the child sex offender, on the chat.
According to court documents, Mr Treseder used his iPhone to record three messages to the convicted offender, including the detail of sexual activities he performed as a teenager.
“Nice yeah, I like them 16, 17, 18-year-olds, nice c**ks, hot arses, know what they want,” Mr Treseder said on November 30, 2020.
“Sucked and f**ked with a nice 18 … 16 year old schoolboy for his first time.”
On December 12, 2021, Mr Treseder contacted the sex service again, leaving another message to the offender.
“Yeah get back to me … like sucking and f**king young guys, 16, 17, 18 year olds,” Mr Treseder voice recorded.
Mr Treseder was charged and arrested at his property in Narromine a month later.
