Aarons Pass: Driver charged over car crash death of young mum Shellymaine Ah Foon

A driver has been charged over the death of a young mother three months after a tragic crash claimed her life as she travelled with her relatives to a wedding.

The driver behind the wheel of a car involved in a tragic fatal crash that killed a young mother on her way to a country wedding has been charged.

Shellymaine Ah Foon died on April 5, after a two-car crash on Castlereagh Highway, Aarons Pass, approximately 40km south of Mudgee, while on the way to a wedding with her relatives.

Emergency services attended the scene after 2pm after reports an SUV and a utility had collided.

The 32-year-old, who was the front-seat passenger of the SUV, died a short time after she was taken to Mudgee Hospital.

Her partner was flown to Westmead Hospital with fractures to both limbs on his left side.

A 68-year-old man remains at Westmead Hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the ute, 55, was served a court attendance notice for seven offences on Tuesday after an investigation was undertaken by specialist officers from the crash investigation unit.

The Mount Druitt man was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death, negligent driving occasioning death, causing bodily harm by misconduct of motor vehicle, two counts of dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and two counts of negligent

driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.

His licence has been suspended.

He is due to appear at Mudgee Local Court on September 10.
