$18 million in drugs and $100k cash seized during police blitz in Nyngan, Broken Hill, Dareton

Police in the western region have confirmed they seized approximately $18 million worth of drugs in the state’s western region over a four-day operation.

Police have allegedly seized more than $18 million worth of cocaine, methylamphetamine, cannabis and cash during a four-day traffic operation across the state’s western region earlier this month.

Traffic and Highway Patrol Command conducted a four-day operation targeting predominantly traffic-related offences covering the western region, including Nyngan, Broken Hill and Dareton.

Western region Inspector Jason Bush told The Dubbo News six people were arrested during the operation and more than 70 traffic penalty notices were issued.

Police claim they located and seized 12kg methylamphetamine, 20kg of cannabis and 28g of cocaine.

Police also allege $100,000 had been located and seized from two separate vehicle stops.

“If we put a street value on the drugs, it is approximately $18 million, which is quite significant,” Inspector Bush added.

“Because it was a traffic-related operation and that was our key focus, there were a number of unauthorised drivers that had been charged with various offences.”

Inspector Bush reminded people to be safe on the roads during the Easter long weekend.
