DOSOMETHING Day has made a little bit of difference to the lives of those sleeping rough in the Macarthur region.
Today Wests League Club handed over generous community donations of kitchen appliances and warm clothing collected over the past month to the Macarthur Homeless Steering Committee as well as a $5000 donation.
The Department of Family and Community Services also donated $1000.
The donations will help the Macarthur region’s ‘hidden homeless’: people in temporary
accommodation who need help to get back on their feet.
West Group Macarthur CEO Tony Mathew said the Macarthur Homeless Steering Committee had done a great job helping people through its Hidden Homeless of Macarthur program.
“The more I heard about it, the more I was compelled to get involved,” Mr Mathew said.
“It’s something you don’t hear a lot about, so when you do you want to help.”
An initiative of the DoSomething Foundation, NewsLocal and Your Local Club, DoSomething Day seeks to celebrate our volunteers and highlight those who are giving back by spreading kindness in their community.
