Canterbury-Bankstown buzzing with activities to celebrate generosity, kindness on DoSomething Day

Canterbury-Bankstown will show its spirit of generosity with a variety of activities planned for DoSomething Day tomorrow, Wednesday, July 19.

Canterbury-Bankstown will show its spirit of generosity with a variety of activities planned for DoSomething Day tomorrow, Wednesday, July 19.

Radio station 2GB host Ben Fordham will broadcast live from Revesby Workers’ Club from 3pm-6pm on Wednesday. Club members can buy a “Ben’s Banger” sausage with the funds going to the Asbestos Diseases Foundation. The club is also collecting second-hand books in its annual Book it Forward project. The books will be given to Bankstown City Aged Care, local schools and the ICON Cancer Centre.

Bankstown Sports Club is encouraging its members to shout a friend, relative or neighbour a coffee or snack. Members can come to reception on Wednesday and claim a $5 voucher to spend on someone special at any of the club’s eateries or at Monkey Mania play centre. Limited to the first 1000 redemptions.

At Bankstown’s Recreations Sports and Aquatic Club, a group of volunteers who are all dads will be hard at work in the kitchen, making sure it is spick and span. The RSAC is a community organisation that provides sport, recreation, social activities and opportunities for people with a disability.

Guardian Funerals at Bankstown today handed over more than 100 blankets to the St Vincent de Paul Society. Vinnies will give the blankets to the homeless in Sydney CBD and at Liverpool during its night patrols.

Bankstown PCYC is celebrating its long-time volunteers, such as martial arts instructor Chung Dang who has been teaching self-defence skills to teenagers for many years.

Canterbury League Club is supporting Punchbowl charity Maronites on Mission. The organisation loads up its van with 200 hot meals and transports them each week to six outreach centres across the city.
