BLACKTOWN Workers Club has donated more than $1.2 million in the past year to support community groups and charities with an emphasis on victims of domestic violence.
The club, an accredited White Ribbon workplace, is continuing its work in domestic violence support and is a proud supporter of Do Something Day by NewsLocal, ClubsNSW and the DoSomething charity.
“Blacktown Workers Club is extremely passionate when it comes to helping the community,” the club’s marketing employee Shakilah Saba said.
“We see the DoSomething Day as the perfect opportunity to strengthen our already strong community links and to give back to the community that so generously supports us.”
Blacktown Workers aids organisations such as WASH House, which aims to improve the quality of life of women in the Mt Druitt community and Blacktown Women’s and Girls Health Centre, which equips women and girls to make decisions about their health and wellbeing.
Blacktown Workers has also raised about seven bins full of hygiene products in the past two months for Share the Dignity project, which aids women who have been affected by homelessness after suffering domestic violence.
DoSomething Day will be held on Wednesday and aims to promote volunteering, charity work and to inspire random acts of kindness.
Personal hygiene products such as shampoo, toothbrushes and toothpaste, can be left at the club’s member service desk until July 31.
