A multibillion-dollar vision to unlock thousands of hectares of land surrounding the Western Sydney Airport — generating 200,000 jobs — will be fast-tracked through the state’s planning system for determination by the NSW Government.
If approved next month, the massive project will see four new employment precincts developed around the Western Sydney Airport, including the Aerotropolis Core, Badgerys Creek, Northern Gateway and an Agribusiness centre.
Planning Minister Rob Stokes unveiled the 10-strong list of proposals to be determined within the next month exclusively to NewsLocal.
It will also feature $2.45 billion plans to fast track the major WestConnex to Sydney Airport link; the $137 million Multi-Trades and Digital Tech Hub at Meadowbank TAFE; the $50 million East Leppington Primary.
Also to be considered is a massive $86 million high-rise tower in the geographical heart of Sydney by property developer, Jean Nassif, at 189 Macquarie St, Parramatta.
Mr Stokes told NewsLocal the projects in the fifth tranche of the fast-track delivery program would deliver more than $3 billion in economic value and create opportunities for more than 2700 jobs, if approved.
“The Aerotropolis (plan) is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to lay the foundations
for a brand-new State-shaping precinct,” Mr Stokes said. “With the Aerotropolis set to support more than 200,000 jobs over 20 years in industries of the future.”
The Parramatta CBD will also see the fast-tracked assessment of $178 million plans by Dyldam for a 430 apartment high-rise at 87 Church St.
Meanwhile, the Light Horse Interchange Business Hub plans will also be determined within the next month. The Charter Hall project, expected to generate 1050 new jobs upon completion, will see a 157,000sq m business hub precinct at Eastern Creek.
Outside Greater Sydney, a massive hand sanitiser factory by Shoalhaven Starches will be fast-tracked on the state’s south coast, while Port Macquarie Airport will also see the introduction of a $58 million business park surrounding a “protected” airport site, if fast-tracked plans are approved.
In the Hunter, a new 50-student primary school would also be built at the existing Muswellbrook Shire Council office building, if the fast-tracked assessment is approved.
Mr Stokes said a whopping 80 projects have been determined through the fast-track planning system in the past 16 weeks, including 13 tranche four projects worth more than $4.3 billion approved by Friday.
