Young artist Tashi Honnery wins praise for cartoon butterfly at the 2014 World Bodypainting Festival
Tashi Honnery is already fielding job offers after her butterfly emerging from a cartoon cocoon wowed judges at the World Bodypainting Festival.

ARTIST Tashi Honnery has impressed the judges at an international contest just months after dipping her brushes into the world of bodypainting.
Tashi, 19, painted her first body in March and she was such a natural at the art she was accepted to compete at the World Bodypainting Festival in Austria.
The talented Mosman native placed 15th in her category and was thrilled with her success at the competition.
“It was the best ever,” she said.
“It was really great to find a family there.”
Tashi competed in the amateur award open category and didn’t event expect to place due to the high standard at the contest.
The theme was The Art of Popular Culture and she decided to paint a butterfly coming from a cocoon of traditional pop art comics.
“It was evolving into what popular culture is today,” she said.
Tashi’s work was featured in several international publications and she has received a lot of job offers and opportunities as a result of taking part in the festival.
In her category she was up against artists with teams of assistants and years of experience behind them.

Her dad acted as her assistant for the day and she had just six and a half hours to paint her model Angelika from head to toe.
“He honestly is the best ever. I don’t know how to thank him,” she said.
Tashi was first introduced to bodypainting at The Australasian College Broadway and recently completed a course in Specialist Make-up Services.
