It’s taken years of convincing.
But now retired music executive Malcolm Hill is ready to part with his storied collection of Mambo shirts.
Mr Hill, who has worked with music legends such as David Bowie, Kate Bush, Radiohead, Crowded House, Blur and the Pet Shop Boys, described the Mambo Loud Shirts as “conversation starters” in the music industry.
“The Loud Mambo Shirts were quite helpful to me in making my way with the rest of the show-offs in the music industry,” he said.
He chose, Tiki La La, a style and culture boutique located in Long Jetty on the Central Coast, as the place to part with his beloved collection.
Heath Crawley, one of the co-owners of Tiki La La, said Mr Hill had “been teasing us with the idea” he would sell the shirts since they first met at a local brewery.
Mr Crawley described the set as the largest collection currently available to purchase.
He said the sale of the Mambos was “going off” and would run until all the shirts were gone.
Looking forward, Mr Crawley sees similar sales of “consciously curated collections” in store for his business.
“We’re excited about finding and representing the next rare and out there vintage collection,” he said.
“Maybe someone’s amazing 90s Gucci collection! Or maybe Madonna would like to move on some of her 80s wardrobe!”
