Residents are getting their hands dirty to make Beauchamp Park a beautiful place.
Parkcare held their second session this week, spending Monday morning weeding, pruning, planting and fertilising to encourage good growth and a proliferation of flowers in the Chatswood park.
Volunteer Ruth Woodley said the group started after many residents were concerned its condition was deteriorating.
“Many residents in the area were very concerned that it hadn’t been kept the way it used to be,” she said.
“I love the park, so we suggested a residents group do the weeding.”
The group is supervised by Willoughby Council who provide gardening tools and gloves as well as morning tea for volunteers.
Willoughby Mayor Gail Giles-Gidney said: “Parkcare provides a great opportunity for residents who do not have a garden of their own to get outdoors, meet some of the locals and satisfy their green thumbs.”
Parkcare meets the fourth Monday of every month at 9am in Beauchamp Park.
