TAILS wagged wildly at a double wedding in Leonay on Sunday morning as four cavalier king charles spaniels joined paws in holy “mutt-rimony”.
Marriage celebrant Nicole Celeban said the marriages were arranged so “no puppies were born out of wedlock’’ by owners who met via her pet costume store and pedigree breeder groups.
More than 20 dogs attended as guests and frolicked in the garden.
Mrs Celeban read out the vows to cavalier king charles spaniels Chanel and Strider and Zahli and Ollie: “Will you now doggedly pledge you will treat each other with tenderness, kindness and affection?
Will you share your treats, nudge each other forward and lick each other’s ears when you’re feeling down?’’
Only groom Ollie seemed to take the wedding seriously, although he was soon reprimanded by Mrs Celeban for becoming frisky with bone-ivory clad bride Zahli before the ceremony ended.
After the formalities, Mrs Celeban declared: “I pronounce you to be bows and wows: you may now bark joyously, lick each other, or pant heavily.’’
And with that, the newlyweds were let loose in the garden and immediately appeared to forget their vows, with one owner exclaiming: “I hope Ollie’s going after the right bride.”
