Blacktown’s new ambulance station at the old Sizzler site will be one of five new ‘super hubs’

Blacktown’s new “super” ambulance station will be used for up to 30 ambulances and built at the old Sizzler restaurant site.
The hub, at 10 Bungarribee Rd, will be one of five new super ambulance hubs across Sydney as part of $150 million NSW Government project due to be finished by 2019.
Blacktown ambulance’s current base is next to the hospital in Marcel Cres, Blacktown, and has 15 bays for ambulance vans.
Blacktown ambulance duty operations manager Jordan Emery said the current base was good but a new facility would be welcome.
“The flow of traffic is not a real issue (at Marcel Cres) but any news of a new facility is pretty exciting for us,” Mr Emery said.
Health Minister Jillian Skinner said $24.5 million was allocated in the 2014-15 budget to start construction of the super ambulance stations at Blacktown, Bankstown, Kogarah, Liverpool and Penrith.
“While ambulance stations across Sydney have been refurbished or replaced on existing sites, a major new station has not been built in Sydney for over 16 years,” Mrs Skinner said.
“The 2014-15 Budget underlies the commitment of the NSW Liberals and Nationals Government to build the ambulance stations of the future to improve response times and reflect the dynamic nature of the paramedic profession.”
There are also plans to buy more sites for stations.
