The St George Illawarra Dragons have produced one of the upsets of the season, defeating the Rabbitohs in a golden point extra time thriller, 22-18.

South Sydney lead the whole game until Brett Morris’ try sunk the Bunnies hearts.

After a slow start, Dylan Walker opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, to give Souths a 6-0 buffer. The scoreline remained the same up until the break.

Four minutes after the interval, halfback Adam Reynolds crossed under the posts to extend Souths' lead to two converted tries.

The Dragons hit back though, with winger Brett Morris scoring to bring the difference back to six points.

The match then seemed over when powerhouse lock Sam Burgess crashed over for the Bunnies, with just over fifteen minutes to play.

However, two tries to the Dragons in the final ten minutes, to Trent Merrin and Adam Quinlan, leveled the scores at 18-all, setting up a grandstand finish.

Both sides had field goal opportunities to break the deadlock, but it wasn’t until Morris’ try four minutes into extra time, set up by a Josh Dugan kick, was the game decided.

Despite the loss, South Sydney are still two points clear of arch-rivals the Sydney Roosters on top of the ladder.

Souths play the Gold Coast Titans at Skilled Park this Saturday night.
