South Sydney left the Canberra Raiders scoreless on Friday during a dominant win at home in wet conditions.
The Bunnies remain in top spot on the NRL ladder after scoring six unanswered tries in their 32-2 win over the Raiders.
After an early Raiders penalty goal, South Sydney forward Sam Burgess crossed under the posts in the 16th minute, after a darting run by halfback Adam Reynolds.
Three minutes later, Souths’ Justin Hunt slid over in the corner for the home side’s second try.
When Isaac Luke scored nine minutes before the break to take a 16-2 lead, the game looked as good as won.
Just before the halfway point of the second-half, South’s fullback Greg Inglis threw a dream pass for winger Nathan Merrit to score. Tries to Dylan Walker and Bryson Goodwin took the final score to 32-2.
After a solid performance, Merrit was able to put behind him a difficult week following his debut State of Origin debut appearance.
"It was a tough loss the other night in Origin and I was a bit down from that," Merritt said.
"But the spirits are back up now that I've come back here with Souths and won a game."
South Sydney face the New Zealand Warriors at NIB Stadium - a home fixture for the Bunnies, which is being held in Perth on Sunday.
