South Sydney duo Bryson Goodwin and Dave Tyrrell have been rewarded for their solid start to the 2013 season with both receiving two-year contract extensions.
"This is great news for the Club and we’re all looking forward to working with Dave and Bryson for an extended period,” Coach Maguire said.
The extension is a particular coup for centre Bryson Goodwin, who came to the Rabbitohs after the former Bulldog was rushed to hospital in round eleven of 2012 with a spleen injury, subsequently missing the remainder of the season.
Goodwin, 27, has played 85 NRL matches since his debut for the Sharks in 2007 as a winger, but has found a new lease of life in the centres for the Rabbitohs forming a solid defensive combination on the edges.
Rabbitohs coach Michael Maguire is proud to have Goodwin in the squad for the next two years.
“From day one Bryson has shown great professionalism in how he goes about his training and his preparation for games.
“He’s also worked extremely hard to take his opportunity and he’s doing a great job for us. He’s overcome a big injury from last year and he’s showing what he can do on a regular basis.
“He brings a lot of experience to our backline having played at the international level for New Zealand, and hopefully he can get back to that level playing with us at the Rabbitohs.”
Front rower Dave Tyrrell, 24, has also been a consistent performer for the club in 2013 in as part of what many are describing as the form forward pack in the NRL.
