“I have massive expectations for the team this season. We have worked really hard over the preseason and we have a quality team, so we are expecting big results,” he told the Wentworth Courier before undertaking a classroom visit at Holy Cross Catholic Primary School in Bondi Junction.

“I think if you go into a season and don’t expect to win the comp there’s no point in playing, so for us it is something we have got our mind on. That’s our goal, but we have got to build the blocks to get there week by week.”

The 2013 premiers defeated Manly 36-6 at Central Coast stadium on Sunday.

“It was pretty tight early on, but we arm wrestled really well and we had opportunities and we took them.”

“We have got a super team, we have got Marty Kennedy, Kane Evans off the bench were really good, so it was a good game.”

Kennedy, a utility forward accompanied Pearce to the school on Monday.

He said he wanted to show his worth to the Roosters, who he rejoined after a year in Brisbane.

“It was pretty evident last year how poorly I can play when I am unhappy, and to be back in such a positive, good environment ... is only going to be an improvement”.

The Roosters spoke to the children about health and fitness as part of the NRL’s Community Carnival across different school in the eastern suburbs on Monday.
