YES, you read the score correctly Roosters 50, Parramatta 0.

It was another clean sheet on Monday night, the second in as many weeks.

How good was it hearing the old song Here Come the Roosters on the loud speaker after the game?

I haven't seen people sing it with such passion since we beat Canberra in 1992.

The Roosters travel to the nation's capital on Sunday to take on the bottom-placed Raiders.

It hasn't always been a pleasant drive home on the Federal Highway.

Players such as Mal Meninga, Laurie Daley, Ricky Stuart, Brad Clyde and Glenn Lazarus made our life a misery for so long.

Who can forget the club's biggest loss of 66-4, which ironically was to Canberra, at the same venue and also a round five match?

Meninga had a picnic that day. Five barnstorming tries and nine goals for a personal tally of 38 points, equalling the great Dave Brown as most points in a match by a single player.

It took our club several years to recover.

It wasn't until the arrival of Phil Gould in 1995 and Brad Fittler the following year that the club erased these dark memories.

For the next decade our club had become a powerhouse.

Every year we kept the calendar free in September knowing our team would play finals football.

Fast forward a decade and that same feeling seems to be coming back.

One gets the feeling that new coach Trent Robinson has instilled a sense of pride in the jumper and the Eastern Suburbs Football Club as a whole.

The defensive efforts in the past two games have clearly demonstrated this.

In fact, the Roosters have kept the opposition scoreless in five of the past six halves of football.

Today's Canberra team doesn't have the same stars but will no doubt prove a difficult opponent.

The Roosters will be full of confidence after their past two performances but they will need another great defensive display if they want to get the points.
