MACCABI-HAKOAH Football Club intend to prove to everyone that they deserve to be in the mix when the lowest ranked team plays its first match in the Football Federation Australia Cup on Tuesday.
Maccabi coach mark Robertson said his side will wear the underdog tag with pride and have a “point to prove to people outside our inner circle”.
The knock out competition will see the 32 sides around Australia compete to become the best team in the county.
Hakoah will have home ground advantage when they play Queensland side, leaders of the Premier League, Palm Beach Sharks at Hensley Athletic field Eastgardens.
Their preparation could not have been better, he said.
“We have gone about our professional approach as we have done all year, the players are in good spirits and have had a chance to watch some of the other first round fixtures of the Westfield FFA Cup, to gauge the standard of teams competing around Australia.
“There is a good vibe around the squad and we feel we have as good a chance of progressing as any other team in the first round pool.”
