FRANK Farina will remain as coach at Sydney FC until the end of the 2014-15 season after inking a new deal with the Sky Blues.
Farina joined Sydney FC in November after incumbent coach Ian Crook resigned, saying he wasn't the right man for the high-profile role.
While Farina's deal will bring some much-needed stability to a club that has had eight senior coaches in eight seasons, the former Socceroos coach isn't ready to discuss anything other than the six matches left in the regular season.
"We're in a dogfight to make the finals, we know that," Farina said.
"Unlike a lot of other clubs, Sydney and Melbourne go into a season expecting to win.
"Three months ago I was given a football lifeline by Sydney FC... it was a no-brainer to accept the challenge.
"We're still in with a chance to possibly, hopefully, make the finals this year."
While the club would not comment on the likelihood of marquee player Alessandro Del Piero re-signing for another season, Farina admitted much of the club's success rested on the Italian veteran's shoulders.
"He's been vitally important for us and will continue to be. We'd love to have him again next year."
