Junior Sports Star: Bronte's Lucas Dorrell is spoilt for choice
BRONTE'S Lucas Dorrell balances a packed representative sport training schedule.
AFL uniforms, rugby balls, cricket pads and beach gear fill Lucas Dorrell's Bronte bedroom as he balances a packed representative sport training schedule.
Lucas, 12, arrived in Sydney from France three years ago and, despite having only a few seasons of cricket and AFL under his belt, has already been selected in the Eastern Suburbs President's Cup cricket team and is a member of the Sydney Swans academy program.
But it is rugby where Lucas's passion lies: he captained the Newington School preparatory First XV and is one of the few schoolboys to have ever been selected in both the Combined Independent Schools preparatory team for both rugby and AFL.
Lucas is impatient to represent CIS at the state championships next month and his ambition is to make the NSW state team to wear the blue No.7 like his Wallabies hero, Michael Hooper.
If the hectic winter sport schedule wasn't enough, Lucas has also become a well-known figure around Bronte surf club where he excels in the surf and beach activities.
Lucas is this week's Wentworth Courier Junior Sports Star nominee, sponsored by Rebel.
