Australia's Growing Drug Crisis

An alleged graffiti vandal who police say pocketed almost $30,000 in criminal profits by dealing weed has faced court after being arrested outside a Rosebery home.

Police allege Rory Hart, 34, vandalised two train carriages at Rhodes and Lavender Bay in April and May this year, causing a damage bill in the thousands of dollars.

When Hart’s home was searched following his arrest about 12:30pm Tuesday, police seized one kilogram of cannabis leaf stored inside a vacuum sealed bag and $28,900 cash.

Spray cans, electronic devices and photographs of the graffiti were also allegedly seized from the address.

Hart was charged with drug supply, drug possession, deal with the property proceeds of crime and malicious damage and appeared before Central Local Court on Wednesday.

The Rosebery man was granted bail. The matter will return to court later this month.
