Police are searching for four people they believe can assist in an investigation into a serious assault on a security guard outside a pub in Sydney’s CBD this month.

It is alleged an unknown man punched the 29-year-old guard in the face at about 1.10am on October 7.

The security guard was on shift at the Pitt St establishment at the time of the incident. He was treated for several facial injuries by NSW Paramedics before being taken to Sydney Eye Hospital.

CCTV footage released by police on Tuesday shows three people — two men and a woman — entering the venue earlier that night.

There appears to be a discussion between one of the men and a guard at the door, with the guard pointing to the man’s heavily tattooed arm.

Footage also appears to show the group leave about an hour and 15 minutes later, with one of the men seen running off screen.

The moment of the alleged assault was not shown on the footage, in which the group is seen to leave while guard wearing an orange hi-vis vest is crouched on the ground.

A man wearing a white shirt picks himself up off the ground.

Still images released with the footage appear to show the woman pulling at the vest of a security guard, with another showing one of the men approaching him from behind with his right arm cocked.

Police would like to speak to four people shown in the footage.
