Food safety inspector’s hygiene hack goes viral on TikTok

Thousands of dollars in food safety fines have been dished out to NSW businesses in the last three months, including to venues which received previous warnings for offences.

Outlets of popular food chains including Chargrill Charlie’s and Pizza Hut are among the latest eateries hit with penalty notices for breaching food safety and hygiene standards since June.

The list of businesses, published by the NSW Food Authority, also includes cafes, sushi restaurants, bakeries and a popular western Sydney dumpling bar.

The list of fines show common breaches included failing to ensure food premises were kept clean and failing to take steps to prevent pests in food areas.

A breakdown of fines shows venues in the Canterbury-Bankstown Council had the highest number of fines issued over the three-month period, with Burwood also emerging as a hotspot.

Sushi restaurants were among the businesses fined over the three month period.
