Jake Davies, 33, of Cobbitty, has pleaded guilty to three counts of commercial drug supply for his role in an illegal enterprise spanning more than five months.

The court heard Davies was a “cleanskin” until a drug habit led him deep within the criminal enterprise, culminating in his arrest in April 2021.

Defence barrister Avni Djemal described his client as “a little mouse” who squirrelled away “paper” to feed his drug addiction and told the court Davies’ involvement could not be characterised as that of a manager.

He said messages tendered to the court outline “aggressive” and “threatening” language used Davies’ associate and showed his client was “accountable to others” in his undertakings.

On one occasion, Davies was warned he would be injected with heroin and cut up. Another time, he was told: “they grab people who do not do what they’re supposed to do”.

The Crown prosecutor told the court Davies’ occupied a level of “superiority” within the enterprise, and pointed to the agreed facts which detailed how the Cobbitty man added new couriers to the messaging service “chat” and negotiated the price of drugs to an undercover officer.

“There’s no evidence that the decisions he made were directed by others in the group,” she said.

The matter before Judge Pauline David was adjourned for sentencing on September 7. Davies remains remanded in custody.
