VIVID Sydney is all set to celebrate its 10th anniversary with its biggest and boldest line-up yet.
The festival of light, music and ideas has attracted some big names to its 2018 program, which will be running from Friday, May 25, to Saturday, June 16.
Grammy award-winner Solange and LA rapper Ice Cube will be performing their only Australian shows at the Sydney Opera House as part of Vivid Live.
Film director James Cameron will also be in town to give a talk about his passion for ocean science at the Australian National Maritime Museum.
VIVID FESTIVAL TO BE ‘BIGGER AND BRIGHTER THAN EVER’
“Visitors and locals can once again expect to be mesmerised by Vivid Sydney, with larger installations and a gripping music and ideas offering,” NSW Tourism minister Adam Marshall says.
The famous light installations will once again be a key feature and this year will expand into the new precinct of Luna Park.
NSW artist Jonathan Zawada has been tasked with creating the digital artworks for this year’s Lighting of the Sails, which are inspired by the natural shapes and colours of our native environment.
“We can expect things like feathers and rocks and human figures, all pushed to an almost surreal saturation of colour and pattern and texture,” he says.
“I hope that people take away a vision of the unique nature of Australia and of Australian people and the creative energy here.”
