A property group team assistant charged with alleged dial-a-dealer style drug supply will be allowed to embark on a weeks-long overseas jaunt while she remains on bail.

Amy Lovatt, 19, was charged with indictable drug supply, three counts of small drug supply and dealing with crime proceeds after she was arrested on May 12.

Lovatt is accused of supplying a white powder substance, which is alleged to be cocaine.

At Downing Centre Local Court on June 20, Magistrate Theo Tsavdaridis said police would allege the property assistant and part-time hospitality worker was involved in the “dial-a-dealer methodology of drug supply”.

This type of drug supply ordinarily involves customers contacting dealers through Snapchat or other social media and having their drugs delivered to an agreed location.

Lovatt – who is yet to enter pleas in the matter – appeared at court on June 20 represented by her solicitor to apply for a bail variation allowing her to travel overseas on June 26.

The court heard Lovatt hoped to delete her three days of reporting and suspend her residence condition so she could take an overseas trip involving a Contiki tour, which was booked in late March.

Lovatt’s father offered to deposit a $10,000 surety to guarantee she would return to the jurisdiction and appear in court as required.

“Her record is entirely unblemished,” Mr Tsavdaridis noted.

“Despite the admissions made according to the fact sheet, (upon a potential guilty plea) she’s likely to be dealt with by some form of alternative to full time custody even if it is by way of intensive correction order.”

Lovatt’s solicitor said despite concerns raised that Lovatt’s alleged offending paid for the trip in question, the first instalment was paid before her arrest and she had been working seven days a week between her two roles for the past six months.

Mr Tsavdaridis said he was satisfied Lovatt’s experience of being arrested and the surety were capable of bringing any unacceptable risks of breaching bail within tolerable bounds.

“It should be made abundantly clear to the defendant and her father that any misbehaviour or breach of bail is likely to see the defendant’s bail revoked,” Mr Tsavdaridis warned.

“The starting point being her appearing by audiovisual link on the next occasion.”

The brief in Lovatt’s matter is due on July 17 and the matter will return to court for reply on August 7.
