Alexandria Park Community School is set to receive a major upgrade worth $102 million.

The redevelopment will include 122 new classrooms for primary and high school students, a new library, canteen, a sports hall, a new synthetic sports field as well as a preschool.

A spokesman confirmed all demountable classrooms at the current site on Buckland St, Alexandria will be removed, and works are set to commence in the coming weeks.

The upgrade is being carried out as part of the NSW Government’s record $6 billion school building program.

It endeavours to deliver more than 170 new and upgraded schools, including a new primary school at Green Square and the relocation of the Cleveland Street Intensive English High School.

The upgrade of Alexandria Park Community School will allow for 1000 primary school students and up to 1,200 secondary school students.

Education Minister Rob Stokes said the project is another example of the NSW Government delivering the school resources local students and families deserve.

“We want our children to have the best opportunities and providing high quality school facilities is essential,” Mr Stokes said.

NSW Liberals candidate for Heffron, Alexander Andruska said he was thrilled the new school was being delivered for the increasing number of young families in the community.

“This is great news for local families,” he said.

“We are ensuring that we have the top-quality school facilities our students need now and into the future.”
