Wyong stabbing: police charge two teens

Two people have been charged following the stabbing of Wyong shop owner Steven Van Meeteren on Tuesday morning.
Police have revealed that an 18-year-old man and 17-year-old girl have been charged by detectives investigating the stabbing at Carmichael’s Corner Store, with inquiries still continuing into the incident.
Emergency services were called to a store on Warner Avenue and Levitt Street at 9.25am on Tuesday, and found Mr Van Meeteren, 41, suffering multiple stab wounds.
He was treated at the scene before being airlifted to Royal North Shore where he underwent surgery that night. He is currently in a stable condition.
The 18-year-old was arrested at a home in Green Point on Tuesday night, and he has been charged with robbery armed with offensive weapon cause wounding/grievous bodily harm.
He was refused bail and appeared in Wyong Local Court where he was granted conditional bail to appear at Gosford Local Court on May 31.
Following further inquiries, police attended a home in Wyong on Wednesday and arrested a 17-year-old girl, taking her to Wyong Police Station where she has also been charged with robbery armed with offensive weapon cause wounding/grievous bodily harm.
She has been refused bail and appeared in a children’s court on Thursday.
Investigations are continuing into the identity of two other people believed to have been in the store at the time.
