Wyong stabbing: police arrest third person over attack on shopkeeper

Another man has been charged by detectives investigating the stabbing of shop owner Steven Van Meeteren at Wyong.

Another man has been charged by detectives investigating the stabbing of a shop owner at Wyong bringing the total number of arrests to three.

Emergency services were called to a store on Warner Ave and Levitt St at Wyong, about 9.25am on Tuesday and found a 41-year-old man suffering multiple stab wounds.

He was treated at the scene by paramedics before being flown to Royal North Shore where he underwent surgery that night; he is now reported to be in a stable condition.

Following inquiries by detectives from Tuggerah Lakes, an 18-year-old man was arrested at a home in Green Point that night.

He was charged with robbery armed with offensive weapon cause wounding/grievous bodily harm.

He was refused police bail and appeared in Wyong Local Court where he was granted conditional bail to appear at Gosford Local Court on May 31.

Following further inquiries, police attended a home in Wyong on Wednesday and arrested a 17-year-old girl, taking her to Wyong Police Station where she was also charged with robbery armed with offensive weapon cause wounding/grievous bodily harm.

She was refused bail to appear at a children’s court.

About 4.30pm on Thursday, investigators attended a home on Watanobbi Rd, Watanobbi, and arrested another 18-year-old man.

The man was taken to Wyong Police Station where he was charged with robbery armed with offensive weapon cause wounding/GBH, and shoplifting.

He was refused bail to appear at Wyong Local Court on Friday.

Investigations into the incident continue.
