The Wyong arts community is set to have a dedicated space for studios, rehearsal and set construction.
Central Coast Council has received $1.5 million from the State Government to construct the Wyong Cultural Hub.
The facility will be built at 18 Margaret St, half a block from The Art House Wyong, with a completion date of 2022. It will be designed to provide a space for rehearsals, studios, set construction as well as meetings and office space.
Central Coast Parliamentary Secretary Adam Crouch said there was a shortage of arts-focused infrastructure on the coast.
“The hub will provide this much-needed central and accessible space,” Mr Crouch said.
“Not only will this allow the local arts community to fulfil their potential, the project will create construction jobs at this difficult time for our local economy.”
Central Coast Council Mayor Lisa Matthews said a new arts facility would compliment The Art House Wyong which was completed in 2016.
She said the funding which will enable the community build on a base for local arts and cultural development.
“I’m excited to see this project progress and the positive contributions it will make to enrich the lives of our community and the economic development of Wyong’s town centre,” she said.
The funding is part of round 2 of the Stronger Country Communities fund which is designed to improve facilities in regional communities.
