A Woy Woy man will stand trial over an alleged “unlawful sexual relationship” with a young girl in Empire Bay and the Mid North Coast from 2008 to 2010.

A Woy Woy man will face trial over eight charges relating to the sexual assault of a young girl between the ages of five and seven in Empire Bay and the Mid North Coast from 2008 to 2010.
The 53-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, faced Gosford Local Court on Friday where he pleaded not guilty to the eight charges and was committed for trial. Five other charges were withdrawn.
The man sat quietly in the courtroom as his matter was mentioned by Magistrate Brett Thomas and left the court with a woman who was outside waiting for him.
The man is facing charges of including three counts of indecent assault of a person under the age of 16 years old, two counts of sexual intercourse with a person under the age of 10, two counts of incite victim under the age of 10 to commit an indecent act and one count of an adult maintaining an unlawful relationship with a child.
Charge sheets tendered to the court allege that the man carried out various sexual acts with one victim aged between five and seven between May 2008 and May 2010. The victim was known to the man.
Two charges include sexual intercourse with the victim, once in Empire Bay in 2008 and the other on the Mid North Coast in 2010.
The charges state that the man engaged in an “unlawful sexual relationship” with the victim when she was aged five to seven.
The alleged acts include kissing the girl on the mouth, exposing his penis and encouraging her to hold it, directing the girl to perform fellatio on him, rubbing his genitalia against her and showing her a pornographic movie.
In June 2018, detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad commenced an investigation following reports a young girl had been sexually assaulted by a man known to her.
Detectives arrested the man at a home in Woy Woy on Friday, September 18 2020.
He will remain on bail until his next appearance in Gosford District Court on January 27 2022.
