Woongarrah: P-plater, 18, clocked at 192km/h in 50km/h near fatal crash site
Police have been left baffled after a P-plater was allegedly clocked driving at 142km/h above the speed limit, around the corner from a horror crash that killed a teenage boy the previous day.

An 18-year-old P-plate driver had his licence suspended on the spot after police claim they clocked him travelling a blistering 192km/h in a 50km/h zone on the Central Coast.
It has left senior police scratching their heads given he was detected just a short distance from the site of a shocking fatal crash, which claimed the life of a 17-year-old male passenger, the day before.
About 9.10pm on Thursday, August 1, police were conducting speed enforcement duties on Hakone Rd, Woongarrah, near the sports fields when they allegedly detected a 1999 Toyota Camry travelling more than 140km/h over the signposted limit.
The driver was stopped and identified as an 18-year-old man from Hamlyn Terrace, producing a NSW provisional 1 driver’s licence.
When questioned about his speed, the young man reportedly told officers: “I’ve had a rough week at work. I was just blowing off some steam.”
The teenager’s licence was immediately suspended and he was issued with a field court attendance notice for driving at a dangerous speed and exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h as a P1 driver.
He is due to appear in Wyong Local Court on September 2.
It comes just a day after a 19-year-old woman was charged following a crash just 2km away on the Pacific Highway at Charmhaven.
About 1.30am on Wednesday, July 31, emergency services were called following reports of a single-vehicle crash.
When Tuggerah Lakes Police arrived, they found a station wagon had hit a tree.
A 17-year-old male passenger died at the scene.
His 19-year-old sister, who was allegedly driving, had left the scene but was found a short time later.
She was taken to Gosford Hospital for the treatment of injuries sustained during the crash and later charged with dangerous driving occasioning death, negligent driving occasioning death, failing to stop and assist after vehicle impact causing death, and driving while suspended.
She was granted strict conditional bail to face Wyong Local Court on August 26.
