Police are hunting an arsonist who left a large swath of The Entrance in darkness after setting fire to an electricity transfer box.
Power was cut to hundreds of homes and units at 12.50am on Monday, May 11, after the transfer box on Ozone St was set alight.
Emergency services crews raced to the blaze, just around the corner from The Entrance Police Station, with multiple fire crews in attendance.
The blaze was contained before it spread to nearby unit blocks but not before the transfer box was destroyed and a nearby power pole badly charred.
The attack comes after a car was set alight at nearby Yamba St overnight Friday.
Fire crews were called to that blaze at 1.06am on Saturday and arrived to find a car well alight.
Tuggerah Lakes Chief Inspector Col Lott said the two fires, along with a number of others in the area in recent weeks, were believed to be linked to one person.
He urged anyone with information or may have seen anyone in those areas around the time to contact Wyong Police Station or Crime Stoppers.
Ausgrid crews, meanwhile, remained this morning at the site of the transfer box, which will have to be replaced.
