The Entrance Camera Club does well in Glennie Nature photography competition
Images of lions with a kill and a yawning hippopotamus are among the photos that have helped The Entrance Camera Club place third in a prestigious international photography compeititon.
A group of wildlife photos by The Entrance Camera Club has seen it placed third for the second year running in a prestigious international nature photography competition.
Works by members were entered in the George W. Glennie Memorial Nature Salon photography competition which is hosted and conducted by The Merrimack Valley Camera Club in Massachusetts, USA.
Sixty-five clubs from the USA, Canada, Europe and Australia entered 646 images with awards handed out to both individuals and to the best camera clubs based on aggregate scores.
The Entrance Camera Club President David Spratt said he was “pleased to announce the club’s success in such a prestigious competition”.
Three of The Entrance Camera Club photographers gained individual awards.
The highest individual award from the local club went to Carol Barry for her amazing capture titled “Predators in action” which was awarded Best Wildlife image, best in mammal-large carnivores category and came in second to the Best of Show.
Grace Bryant picked up two merit awards with “Fighting for a Share” in the birds-raptors category and “A Tooth or Two” in the mammal-large carnivores category.
Gail Hardy gained a merit award for her image “White Lipped Frogs” in the amphibian category.
