Terrigal: Brock Pearson faces court over alleged kidnapping, robbery and cocaine possession

One of the men charged over an alleged kidnapping in Terrigal had allegedly threatened to cut ears off and bash people that owed him money.

A metal fabricator charged over an alleged Terrigal kidnapping allegedly threatened to “cut off ears” and bash people that owed him money.

Brock Pearson, from Mayfield East, appeared via video link from jail before Gosford Local Court on Friday where his defence lawyer made a release application.

During the mention, he was often shaking his head or burying it in his hands.

Pearson is facing a charge of take/detain in company with intent serious indictable offence occasioning actual bodily harm relating to the alleged kidnapping in Terrigal between 10.45pm on February 11 and 3am on February 12 2022.

The court heard Pearson also had a fresh charge of robbery armed with an offensive weapon.

During his release application, Pearson’s defence lawyer told the court he had extra bail security from the sale of his motorbike and had only had 25 minutes outside since he was in custody which was affecting his mental health.

She also said the prosecution’s case was “weak”.

The Crown Prosecutor opposed bail outlining the serious of the alleged kidnapping, risks to the community and Pearson’s connections with outlaw motorcycle gang members.

She said mobile phone intercepts obtained by police allege that Pearson “was heard to threaten to cut off ears and bash and steal from people that owed him money”.

If convicted of the offences, the court heard Pearson would spend a “lengthy time in jail”.

Magistrate Jennifer Price refused bail given the nature of the alleged offending and risks to the community.

Pearson was previously on bail for the alleged kidnapping charge however had his bail revoked after being caught with cocaine in Newcastle.

On Friday, Magistrate Price convicted him on one count of possess prohibited drug with no further penalty.

Pearson, 23, was arrested in Newcastle on August 28 after being caught with 1.29g of cocaine. An agreed set of facts tendered to the court state that police saw a vehicle park in a disabled car space on Hunter St in Newcastle around 4pm.

Police recognised the driver as SGT @ Arms Bandidos Northern Chapter Ben Adams who was with Pearson. Officers approached Pearson who told them his name “which revealed substantial information in relation to drug supply and links to OMG”, according to the facts.

“The accused was also on bail for serious offences at the time linked to OMCG,” the facts read.

During a search of Pearson, police located a resealable plastic bag in his shorts. When asked if it was cocaine, he said “Well … yeah”.

Pearson’s charges relating to the alleged kidnapping will be back at Gosford Local Court on September 23.

Police will allege that a 23-year-old man was walking near the intersection of Havenview and Hillcrest streets, Terrigal, when a black utility stopped beside him and four males exited the vehicle.

The man was allegedly assaulted before he was dragged into the vehicle and allegedly threatened with a knife and baton.

The man was then driven to a car park at Crackneck Lookout where the males allegedly removed some clothing and jewellery before leaving him on the side of the road.

A short time later, the males returned and allegedly further assaulted the man before he was dropped off near Hillcrest Street.

About 3.20am, the man was driven by family members to Gosford Hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

Brisbane Water Police have been investigating the alleged incident under Strike Force Dernancourt.

Police have also charged Lake Macquarie man Brodie Harpley, 29, over the alleged incident. He is facing a charge of kidnap in company with intent serious indictable offence occasioning actual bodily harm and robbery armed with offensive weapon and remains before the court.
