A GLOBAL movement born on the Central Coast has now set up a permanent base back home.
Take 3 For the Sea, led by founder Tim Silverwood, has opened an office and sustainability hub on The Entrance Rd at Long Jetty.
The hub officially opened last Friday, with the full renovation of the premises completed by celebrity renovators Kyal and Kara Demmrich, and with the ongoing support from local businesses across the coast.
“The support of the coast community has enabled the charity to grow,” co-founder Tim Silverwood said.
“For 10 years we have been building the charity, and have educated tens of thousands of young people and schoolchildren on the coast.
“We can now cement ourselves here and act as a beacon for sustainability.
“We’re so proud to open up our first ever dedicated office and sustainability hub here on the coast where it all started.”
Mr Silverwood said the charity previously worked out of donated space at the University of NSW, cafes and people’s homes.
“We are chuffed to be in Long Jetty,” Mr Silverwood said. “We can run the office, as well as having event space and allowing other environmental groups to use the space.”
Take 3’s message to collect three pieces of litter on every visit to the beach, has gone from strength to strength with a reach into 129 countries worldwide.
Partnerships with the World Surf League and local surfer Adrian ‘Ace’ Buchan has also bolstered its message.
