Streetwatch: M1 commuter chaos, woman hurt in horse fall, pizza driver robbed

A CRASH on the M1, a woman injured in a horse fall and a pizza delivery driver robbed. What’s been keeping emergency services busy on the Coast.

A TWO-car crash on the M1 sparked traffic chaos this morning with southbound queues stretching for more than 12km.

Emergency services were called at 6.15am after two cars collided approaching Jolls Bridge at Mooney Mooney.

Two of three southbound lanes were blocked as emergency services and incident response crews worked to clear the incident.

Motorists were advised to avoid the area with southbound traffic banked back past Mount White.

Paramedics treated a woman aged in her 20s for head and chest injuries before she was flown to Royal North Shore Hospital in a stable condition.

A man, also in his 20s, was treated for a leg injury while another man aged in his 30s suffered neck and wrist injuries.

A fourth patient was also treated at the scene before they were taken to Gosford and Hornsby hospitals in stable conditions.

A woman suffered a medical episode after falling backwards from a horse at Palm Grove yesterday.

Paramedics were called to the property on Ourimbah Creek Rd at 11.05am following reports a 44-year-old woman had fallen from a horse and struck her head.

She was treated at the scene before being flown by Westpac Rescue Helicopter to Royal North Shore Hospital with back and neck injuries.

PIZZA DELIVERY DRIVER ROBBED

A pizza delivery driver was held up last night by a man brandishing a screwdriver or a knife.

Police said the robbery happened about 10.15pm at Lake Munmorah.

The victim handed over the cash and the offender fled on foot.

Police said at the time the offender was wearing a black hoodie and red scarf.

IDENTITY SOUGHT OVER ALLEGED ASSAULT

Tuggerah Lakes Police are seeking to identify a male depicted in CCTV footage after an alleged assault at The Entrance on June 21.

STATEWIDE GUN AMNESTY BEGINS

The NSW Police Force is reminding the community a statewide Firearms Amnesty began on Sunday.

Anyone with an unregistered firearm or firearm-related item in their possession will have the opportunity to legally dispose, or register it without penalty between now and September 30.

It follows the success of last year’s national campaign which netted more than 25,000 firearms and parts for destruction, sale and registration across NSW.

Firearms and firearm-related items can be surrendered under amnesty arrangements at approved drop-off points, which include licensed firearm dealers and police stations.

Under no circumstances should loaded firearms be taken into public places including police stations. Firearms Registry Hotline: 1800 803 041.

WOMAN CHARGED AFTER POLICE PURSUIT

A woman was charged after leading police on a pursuit in Lake Macquarie.

Shortly before 1.30am on Saturday police attempted to stop a Subaru Liberty on Lake Rd at Glendale, for a random breath test.

The vehicle failed to stop, allegedly accelerating harshly and a pursuit was initiated.

A short time later, the pursuit was terminated in Boolaroo.

Just after 3.30am, officers attended a home on Quarry St at Speers Point and located the Subaru.

A 28-year-old woman was spoken to before being arrested.

She was taken to Waratah Police Station and charged with failing to stop during a police pursuit, reckless driving and driving with an expired licence. The woman was granted conditional bail to appear at Toronto Local Court on Tuesday 17 July 2018.
