A new rideshare service has launched on the Central Coast offering new drivers 100 per cent commission for the first four weeks and 30 per cent discounted rides to customers.

Ola, one of the world’s fastest growing rideshare companies, has officially launched on the coast, along with Newcastle and Ballarat and Bendigo in Victoria with other regional areas and cities in coming weeks.

As part of the local launch, Ola will give Central Coast rideshare drivers who complete their registration by January 31 the full fare on every ride they take with the platform across a

four week period.

The rideshare app is also offering new customers 30 per cent off all of their rides on the coast for their first two weeks — up to a maximum discount of $10 per ride — as well as a $20 credit when they refer a friend, with a $10 ride credit for whoever they get to sign up.

The local launch of the rideshare service is part of an aggressive expansion strategy for Ola across eleven new cities and regional hubs Australia-wide.

Ola Australia and New Zealand managing director Simon Smith said the service had received positive feedback that it was expanding into more areas.

“We’ve seen strong interest from rideshare drivers on the Central Coast area so far, and are expecting to see the number of cars on the app grow over the coming weeks as more drivers

join us for the new 100% commission offer,” he said.

“We’re excited to bring Ola to the Central Coast, giving the people of this region a new option for getting around town and helping drivers make more money.”

Lindsay Aristobil-Adele is proud to become the first registered Ola driver on the Central Coast.

“I had a full-time job and my contact expired,” he said.

“My brother suggested rideshare. I looked into it and thought I’ve got nothing to lose and everything to gain.

“I think with Ola coming to the coast it will give significant benefit to Coasties having a cheaper ride.”

Ola uses a “one time passcode” system where passengers are sent a unique four-digit code when they book a ride.

This is then shared with the driver who must successfully enter the code into the app before the ride can begin, making sure the right passenger is matched with the correct car and driver.

Residents can download the Ola app from the App Store or Google’s Play Store, while interested drivers can learn more about registering by visiting the website: ola.com.au/driver/.
