Putrid dad sexually abused stepdaughter, daughter for years

A vile dad has pleaded guilty to sexually abusing his daughter and stepdaughter for years, and was only caught out when his ex-wife confronted him while wearing a wire, a court has heard.

A Central Coast man has been led into custody for the first time after pleading guilty to sexually abusing his daughter and stepdaughter for several years and later describing one of them as “like a wife to me” because she helped around the house.

The putrid man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, faced Wyong Local Court on Tuesday where he pleaded guilty to seven counts of aggravated sexual intercourse with his stepdaughter and daughter with a further four counts of aggravated and indecent assault to be taken into account when he is sentenced.

After entering his pleas the man was taken into custody to face Gosford District Court on July 4 to fix a sentence date.

An agreed set of facts states the man started abusing his stepdaughter from an early age and around the mid 2000s he sexually abused her.

“I laid there in shock that I was losing my virginity to my Dad,” the man’s now adult stepdaughter told police.

“I was scared as he previously threatened me with guns if I said anything and he often references to guns and killing my family (even in front of family and guests as a joke). Telling someone what was happening was not a risk I would take.”

The facts state the abuse continued sometimes up to two or three times a week until she left the family home.

It wasn’t until years later when the stepdaughter had intimate relationships as an adult did she confide in others about what had happened and eventually told her mother in 2022.

On the same day she asked her sister if anything had happened to her and she reported similar experiences.

The girls’ mother confronted the man about the abuse and he told her it all started in the context of him having to stay home after injuring his back and the older girl did all the cleaning and helped him look after the younger children.

He told her she was “doing all the wife things” and “she was like a wife to me”.

“On January 6, 2023 a listening device was utilised to record a face-to-face discussion between (the mother) and the offender, during which the offender made various admissions to sexually abusing [one daughter] during her childhood,” the facts state.
