A former teacher at the Central Coast’s most exclusive private school will fight one count of trying to procure a child for sex at a hearing next year.
Former Central Coast Grammar junior school teacher David Christopher Beeby, of Chittaway Point, was not required to attend Gosford Local Court on Thursday where his matter was given a hearing date.
The 39-year-old will defend the charge on February 26, 2025, — almost a year to the day after he was arrested and charged — with the hearing given an estimate of one hour.
Charge sheets tendered in court allege Mr Beeby attempted to procure a child aged between 14 and 16 for unlawful sex some time in January.
He was arrested and charged on February 29 this year and granted conditional bail.
Mr Beeby was a junior school teacher for Central Coast Grammar but left earlier this year.
After Mr Beeby’s arrest Principal Phil O’Regan sent a letter home to parents confirming the junior school teacher had been charged with a criminal offence but reassured parents the allegation had absolutely nothing to do with any students at the school.
“As the matter is before the courts, there are limits on what can be said and we also have limited information as we are not central to police inquiries,” Mr O’Regan wrote to parents.
“To be absolutely clear, police have assured us that the charges do not involve any students at CCGS.”
