Police draw guns, arrest man armed with knife at The Entrance

A man “acting aggressively” and armed with knives and a large table leg was arrested by undercover police with their guns drawn at The Entrance.

A man will face Wyong Court today after allegedly threatening members of the public and police while armed with a knife and a large table leg.

About 12.45pm on Tuesday, two detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad were at a shopping centre at The Entrance for an unrelated reason when they spotted a man, armed with two knives and a large table leg, acting aggressively and approaching a nearby bus.

The officers — a detective chief inspector and a detective sergeant — approached him and, due to his aggressive behaviour, drew their firearms and arrested the man.

During the arrest, police allege the man struggled with officers and tried to pull out a third knife from his pants. Nobody was injured during the incident.

Police will allege in court the man was also threatening members of the public while armed with weapons in George St, East Gosford, and on Fairview Ave, The Entrance, earlier the same day.

He has been charged with seven offences relating to possession of the weapon, as well as driving offences, resisting an officer and possession of a prohibited drug.
