Pearl Beach: P-plater, 17, charged with additional offences over horror smash
A 17-year-old P-plate driver has been charged with two more offences following a crash which left one boy fighting for life and another with a broken arm in need of surgery.

A P-plater has been charged with additional offences after an investigation found two more teenagers were passengers in the car when he allegedly lost control and ploughed into a tree.
Police allege the driver was speeding more than 45km/h over the limit when he lost control on Patonga Drive at Pearl Beach and slammed into a tree about 12.10am on Friday, October 2.
A male rear-seat passenger, 17, was treated at the scene for serious head injuries before being flown to Royal North Shore Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.
A second rear-seat passenger, 17, was taken to Gosford Hospital for soft tissue injuries, while a third passenger, also 17, was not injured.
Officers from the Crash Investigation Unit commenced an investigation into the crash.
The driver was arrested and taken to Woy Woy Police Station where he was charged with aggravated dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm while driving at more than 45km/h over the speed limit, dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm in a manner dangerous, cause bodily harm by misconduct in charge of a motor vehicle, negligent driving, being a P-plate driver under 25 with more than one passenger at night, low-range drink-driving and not giving particulars to police.
Following further inquiries, police have determined two more passengers — boys aged 16 and 17 — were inside the vehicle at the time of the crash. T
he younger boy sustained a fractured arm and required surgery.
As a result, the teenage driver has been charged with two additional offences including aggravated dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.
He will next appear at a children’s court on Friday 16 October 2020.
