A man, not long out of jail, has been charged with 13 offences including having a pistol while on a firearm prohibition order after a police raid at Narara yesterday.
Plain clothes detectives, with assistance from Strike Force Raptor North officers, raided the duplex property on Cathy Crescent about 12.30pm.
A 38-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Gosford Police Station where he was later charged.
The Express Advocate understands the man had not long been released from prison.
Police were assisted at the scene by two Hazardous Materials fire trucks, which has prompted the closure of the small dead-end street.
During the search police seized MDMA, heroin, chemical and a pistol.
Parents meanwhile received an email from Kindy Patch Narara daycare centre at the end notifying them of the road closure.
Police believe the house may have been used for the production of methylamphetamine but was now used to store or distribute the drug.
The man was charged with 13 offences including supplying a prohibited drug, possess an unregistered pistol and dealing with the proceeds of crime.
He was refused bail to face Gosford Local Court Friday 7, where he was again refused bail to face the same court on Friday, April 3.
Residents expressed their shock at the raid.
“That’s crazy,” one resident said.
“It’s just down the road from a childcare centre.”
NSW Fire & Rescue crews were on the scene to render any chemicals seized in the search safe.
The road is expected to remain closed for some time with parents forced to park on Deane St and walk past the house to collect their children from daycare.
