A Gorokan man is the third person to be arrested and charged over a shooting in the Hunter Valley.
Kane Forsyth Pollock was arrested at his home yesterday afternoon and has been refused bail in Wyong Local Court today.
The 23-year-old has been charged with firing a firearm at a dwelling with disregard for safety, firing a firearm in a manner likely to injure, possessing a loaded firearm in a public place and destroying or damaging property.
Police were called to Mills Crescent on January 29 following reports of two homes being shot at. Officers stopped a Holden Commodore sedan in a nearby street where four men got out of the vehicle, with two allegedly fleeing.
Charge sheets tendered to court state that between 3am and 3.30am on January 29 Mr Pollock fired a shotgun at two homes on Mills Crescent in Cessnock.
They also state Mr Pollock intentionally or recklessly damaged the driver’s window and windscreen of a vehicle.
In his bail request, Mr Pollock’s defence stated he only realised there was a warrant for his arrest two days ago and wanted to see his daughter before he handed himself in.
The defence also stated he needed to look after his elderly grandmother and proposed strict bail conditions.
Magistrate Michael Antrum said police opposed bail due to allegations of evading police. He said there was a strong prosecution case with a jail sentence a possibility.
Bail was refused and Mr Pollock will appear again on April 7.
Two men, Daniel James Woodward and Ausie John Tomkins, have also been refused bail at Cessnock Local Court in connection to the incident.
They are facing charges of firing a firearm at a dwelling with reckless disregard for public safety, firing a firearm in a manner likely to injure, possessing a loaded firearm in a public place and intentionally or recklessly damaging property.
