Paramedics have described a multi-vehicle crash on Wilfred Barret Drive at North Entrance this morning as “absolute chaos”.

The incident occurred about 9am today with five patients receiving treatment.

The Express Advocate can confirm a female cyclist was among the injured.

She has been taken by ambulance to John Hunter Hospital with an ankle and shoulder injury.

One man was flown to John Hunter Hospital in a serious but stable condition with head, pelvis and abdominal injuries.

One man was taken to Gosford Hospital with minor injuries.

NSW Ambulance Inspector Brad Folitarik said six crews attended the crash.

“The scene was absolute chaos with paramedics and emergency services tending to multiple patients,” he said.

“Our crews worked vigorously to assess each person at the scene — with five patients requiring treatment and transportation to various hospitals.

“Turning up to a crash like this, you look at the amount of carnage and expect the worse — but job is to get in there and do everything we can to ensure the best outcome for each patient.”

North and southbound traffic is being diverted via Wyong with the road expected to remain closed for some time as police investigate the crash.

It comes after a woman was lucky to survive after ploughing into a tree on the same road about 11am yesterday at Magenta.

She was flown to John Hunter Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The female driver and sole-occupant died at the scene.

Tuggerah Lakes police District attended and established a crime scene.

An investigation has commenced into the circumstances surrounding the crash and a report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
