Missing kayaker found dead at Budgewoi Lake, Toukley
A young man has tragically drowned on the Central Coast while kayaking in the evening on New Year’s Eve. Two fellow kayakers had to be rescued when conditions deteriorated on the lake.

A kayaker who disappeared in bad weather on the state’s Central Coast has tragically been found dead.
The 25-year-old man set out with friends on Budgewoi Lake at Toukley at 7.45pm on New Year’s Eve before the group of three got into trouble.
Two kayakers were rescued 500m south of the Buff Point reserve after they were unable to return to shore when conditions deteriorated on the water but the third man disappeared.
Officers from Tuggerah Lakes Police District assisted by the Marine Area Command, Marine Rescue, Roads and Maritime Services and Polair tragically found the young man’s body in the water off Budgewoi just before 11am today.
One of the kayakers has said the sad victim is his cousin.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
