A father of two known fondly by his friends as the “Mayor of Glenreagh” has died in a fatal crash on the state’s Mid North Coast as onlookers desperately tried to save his life.

Shattered friends have made tributes to Glenreagh man James Green, who tragically died after his motorcycle crashed on Coramba Rd in Coffs Harbour at 9pm on New Year’s Eve.

Witnesses told police Mr Green was found on the road ejected from his bike and passers-by began CPR until NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived at the scene.

Despite their best efforts, Mr Green could not be saved.

A video Mr Green posted to social media hours before his death showed him celebrating New Year’s Eve with friends.

Tributes and messages are pouring in from his shocked and devastated friends, who called him “The Mayor”.

Officers from Coffs Clarence Police District are now investigating the crash and any witnesses or people with dashcam footage from the relevant time on Coramba Rd are urged to contact Coffs Harbour Police Station on 6691 0799.

More than 10,000 speeding drivers have been caught out in just 11 days along with 585 alleged drink-drivers.

On New Year’s Eve Mt Druitt Highway Patrol officers penalised the same woman twice in 10 minutes after she was caught speeding.

The 36-year-old woman was allegedly caught driving a VW Golf at 127km/h in an 80km/h zone in Arndell Park at 1.45pm before she was stopped and issued with a penalty notice for exceeding the speed limit by more than 30km/h.

Less than 10 minutes later the same woman was stopped after she was detected allegedly travelling at 80km/h past police conducting random breath tests.

On roads with a speed limit of 80km/h or less drivers must slow to 40km/h to pass stationary emergency vehicles displaying flashing lights.
